The essentials

Why is a Postnatal Massage essential?

Your body has done something incredible — now it's time to support its healing journey. Our Signature 2-in-1 Postnatal Massage blends the time-honoured wisdom of Traditional Chinese massage (TCM) techniques with the restorative benefits of Javanese massage. This powerful combination promotes circulation, expels wind, supports womb recovery, and helps you regain your strength — physically and emotionally.

Postnatal care is often overlooked, but it is just as vital as prenatal support. The weeks after childbirth involve significant physical and emotional changes, and a dedicated massage routine can make a world of difference.

We offer customisable home recovery packages (7, 10, 15, or 20 days) so you can experience these benefits in the comfort and privacy of your home — especially during confinement. Let us help you heal, restore, and feel like yourself again, with the best of both worlds in every session.

What we treat

Addressing Common Postpartum Discomforts

The recovery weeks pile up unfamiliar aches. These are the six we work on most often.

  • Back and shoulder pain
  • Pelvic pain and instability
  • Muscle tension and soreness
  • Swelling and edema
  • C-section recovery
  • Emotional stress and fatigue

Benefits

Benefits of a Postnatal Massage

Postnatal massages are usually done in the comfort and privacy of your home during confinement — though many clients prefer our spa. Either way, here's what happens in your body.

  • 01

Relieve neck and shoulder pain from carrying and breastfeeding baby.

  • 02

Help restore the uterus to its original state.

  • 03

Eliminate excess body fluids and reduce water retention.

  • 04

Aid in weight loss and gentle re-contouring of the body.

  • 05

Improve blood circulation across the recovering body.

  • 06

Expel toxins and wind — the traditional Jamu benefit.

On the table

Massage Techniques

You will be positioned comfortably on your bed or a massage table, lying in a supine (on your back) or prone (on your stomach) position. Our massage strokes carefully combine Javanese and Meridian points to effectively reduce swelling, relieve pain, and regulate hormones.

Every therapist is trained in postnatal biomechanics — pressure, sequencing, and pacing all adjusted for a recovering body.

Our signature

Binder & Jamu

We use Jamu paste of pure quality, with a higher concentration than creams, aiding in preventing sensitivity and effectively shrinking the uterus. Jamu masks promote lochia discharge, dispel wind & dampness, and improve milk production.

After applying the Jamu mask, our therapist wraps your abdomen with our cotton bengkung wrap — breathable, washable, and re-tightenable across the recovery weeks.

A signature 2-in-1 postnatal ritual that's been part of BMB since 2009.

Focus areas

Focus Areas

Our skilled therapists specialise in addressing postnatal areas of tension — the parts pregnancy and delivery stress most.

Targeted techniques focus on the feet, ankles, lower legs, and lower back. We aim to alleviate specific discomforts such as foot pain, ankle swelling, and leg tension, offering much-needed relief and enhancing overall well-being during your postpartum recovery.

What we use

Our Postnatal Massage Oils

Our massage oils are infused with Lemongrass and Ginger. The aroma is delightful, but the function matters more — the blend is effective in expelling wind, reducing water retention and bloating, and aiding in slimming — without affecting breastfeeding.

Every ingredient is screened for breastfeeding safety on the day of every session, so the same massage you book in week one is safe to repeat in week ten.

What Mums Say About Our Treatments

Four recent reviews from mums who completed a home-postnatal package with our therapists.

  • Lovely time with Sue, my postnatal massage therapist. Her experience and professionalism made my recovery swift and enjoyable. She adapts to each customer and I can tell that she truly cares for us based on the way she remembers the specific pain points and tailors her technique — balancing effectiveness without overdoing it. I would recommend her to all my friends going through post natal, regardless of natural or C-section. Coming from a person who regularly goes to massages, much thanks to Sue and BMB.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • How is a postnatal massage different from a regular massage?

Our Postnatal Massage is adapted to suit the individual needs and recovery process of mothers after childbirth. Our certified therapists are trained to provide gentle and tailored massages to ensure comfort and support during the healing process.

  • When is the best time to start a postnatal massage?

It is generally safe to start a postnatal massage a few days after a vaginal delivery or once you receive clearance from your healthcare provider.

At BMB, you can schedule your massage sessions after 7 days for normal delivery. For caesarean section (C-section), we recommend beginning sessions after 3 weeks or with the recommendation of your gynae.

  • How frequently should I schedule postnatal massage sessions?

The frequency of sessions can vary based on individual needs. Many mothers find benefit in scheduling sessions regularly, especially during the early postpartum period. Your therapist can provide personalised recommendations based on your unique situation.

  • Can I combine postnatal massage with other postpartum therapies?

Yes, a postnatal massage can be complemented with other postpartum therapies. Do consult with our certified therapists to ensure that they align with your individual recovery needs.

  • I had a Caesarean birth. Can I still book a postnatal massage?

In the event of a caesarean section, post-natal massage can only be performed after the incision has closed properly — usually about 2–4 weeks after delivery. Before then, mummies can still be massaged on other parts of their body to soothe body aches and relieve water retention, without disturbing the fresh wound on the tummy.

We also recommend our Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage for mothers who have gone through Caesarean delivery. This massage aims to support your body's natural healing processes after a C-section.

  • Is transportation included in the home-service postnatal massage?

Yes, transportation is included for our home-service Postnatal Massage, but only for package bookings. We offer the convenience of bringing our certified professionals to your doorstep for a relaxing and personalised postnatal massage experience.

Please note that transportation is exclusively provided for clients who opt for our comprehensive package options.

  • Can I change my therapist mid-treatment?

A change of therapist can be fulfilled upon request, at no additional cost. If you encounter issues during your experience with us, please contact us at 6235 0688 or email us at enquiry@beautymumsbabies.com.
